With more than 437,000 children and youth in foster care, it’s time to focus on how child welfare systems — especially in partnership with the legal and judicial community — can support and strengthen families, prevent disruption, and promote reunification, according to the Child Welfare Information Gateway.
Explore this year’s National Foster Care Month website and find new resources and tools to help you support families and youth.
Following are some highlights of National Foster Care Month 2020:
- Shareable graphics, sample social media posts, Facebook profile frames, and more to Spread the Word.
- Real-life story narratives that let you experience a reunification from the point of view of youth, families, and professionals who share their experiences with supportive services and relationships.
- Resources on partnering with the judicial community to support timely, safe, and stable reunification.
- A message from Jerry Milner, the Children’s Bureau’s Associate Commissioner.
