Linda and John found part-time jobs but still couldn’t afford child care for their two children. Luckily, the family approached 4C to learn about child care resources. They qualified for and received School Readiness child care financial assistance offered through the Early Learning Coalition.
Children with access to quality preschool programs are more likely to graduate high school, go to college and earn higher wages. It gives children an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and become contributing members of society. It also gives parents time to pursue full-time employment.
Through the completion of a developmental screening, which is offered to all children ages 0-5 who receive School Readiness funding, the child care provider and the parents noticed delays in the oldest child. The Early Intervention team at 4C offered resources and support. They directed the parents to Early Steps for further evaluation and assisted with completing and submitting the required intake forms.
Fortunately, this child was screened early. Offering supports to children in their youngest years creates the greatest opportunity for success in school and beyond.
The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County offers programs that improve and strengthen the lives of low-income families and children. For a donation of $300, you can place a child in quality care for a year. Your donation can make it possible to reach more children and help put them on the right path.
It’s an investment that will make a difference in Central Florida!
