Wanda is a single mother of a 3-year-old son and works part-time at a hospital. Her father cared for the child when she was at work. That was until he became ill and passed away. After that, she relied on others who eventually became unreliable. So Wanda enrolled her son in quality child care provider, but the cost overwhelmed her low-income budget.
She really couldn’t afford quality child care. Not the kind that would help prepare her child for success in school and life. Most often, children in low-income families are most often doomed to continue a cycle of poverty because their parents can’t afford the high cost of quality child care that could start them on a path to success.
Fortunately, a friend suggested Wanda apply for help, and she qualified for the School Readiness Program offered through the Early Learning Coalition. With that financial assistance, she was able to get a better handle on her daycare expenses. Wanda said the financial help is a blessing to young single parents trying to build a better future for their child.
The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County offers programs that improve and strengthen the lives of low-income families and children. For a donation of $300, you can place a child in quality care for a year. Your donation can make it possible to reach more children and help put them on the right path.
It’s an investment that will make a difference in Central Florida!
